Bandai Namco Unveils Major Expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger Set for 2027

Published on 22 March, 2026

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Media.Vision have officially announced a significant expansion downloadable content (DLC) for Digimon Story: Time Stranger. The new content is currently in development and is slated for launch in 2027.

The announcement accompanied the results of the 139th Digimon Referendum, a fan-driven poll asking which Digimon players would like to train or see active in future games. Over 35 candidates were selected by management for the vote. The top ten results were revealed as follows:

  1. Gammamon

  2. Loogamon

  3. Kazemon

  4. Gumdramon

  5. Pulsemon

  6. Herissmon

  7. Terriermon Assistant

  8. Meicoomon

  9. Ludomon

  10. Gekkomon

Integrating Fan Feedback

Producer Ryosuke Hara confirmed that while not every Digimon from the referendum results will appear in the expansion, the development team plans to partially reflect these choices in the upcoming DLC and future franchise entries. Hara emphasized that the world-building for the expansion is being carefully considered alongside these fan preferences.

Hara also teased the return of voice actor Mutsumi Tamura, known for the role of Aegiomon. When asked by Digimon Con host Tsujimon if Aegiomon's involvement implied a story set in a parallel world or the future, Hara declined to give a direct answer but acknowledged the excellent reasoning behind the speculation.

Platform Availability

Digimon Story: Time Stranger is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The title is also scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, releasing on July 9 in Japan and July 10 worldwide.
