Bungie Announces Marathon 'Server Slam' Weekend: Dates, Content, and Rewards Revealed

Published on 26 February, 2026

Bungie has officially scheduled an open testing period for its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon. Dubbed the "Server Slam," this event runs from February 26 to March 2, 2026, concluding just days before the game's full launch on March 5. The event is accessible to all players on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with full cross-play and cross-save functionality enabled.

Event Content and Restrictions

During the open weekend, players will experience a substantial portion of the final game. Two distinct zones, Perimeter and Dire Marsh, will be available for exploration. Additionally, the event features five of the six playable Runner shells—Destroyer, Assassin, Recon, Vandal, and Triage—alongside the scavenger experience known as Rook. Participants can also engage with early contracts for five different factions, including CyberAcene and Traxus.

While progress made during the Server Slam will not transfer to the main game, players can earn exclusive rewards based on their activity level. These rewards, packaged as Arrival Caches, will be waiting for players upon the official release.

Reward Tiers Breakdown

Bungie has outlined a tiered reward structure based on player participation:

  • Introductory Mission: Completing the initial tasks grants a unique emblem and player background.

  • First Mission Completion: Unlocks a Standard Arrival Cache containing standard implants, runner shell cores, and weapon mods.

  • Runner Level 10: Awards an Enhanced Arrival Cache with upgraded implants and weapon chips.

  • Runner Level 30: Grants the Deluxe Arrival Cache, offering the highest tier of implants, shell cores, and exclusive weapon variants like the Deluxe Magnum.

These items will be accessible in player inventories once Marathon goes live on March 5, 2026. No purchase is necessary to participate in the Server Slam, making it an opportune time for players to test the mechanics before release.
