Gamers looking to revisit the Kanto region are in for a treat, as Pokemon FireRed Version and Pokemon LeafGreen Version are officially heading to the Nintendo Switch. The Pokemon Company confirmed that the beloved Game Boy Advance titles will be available for digital purchase starting February 27.
Pricing and Regional Availability
Each title will retail for $19.99 and is currently available for pre-order through the Nintendo eShop. In a decision that replicates the original 2004 release strategy, the games will be sold as separate language-specific versions. Buyers in North America, for instance, will need to choose between distinct English, French, or Spanish SKUs, as there is no in-game option to toggle languages.
Modern Features and Connectivity
While the games preserve the classic experience, they include updated functionality for modern hardware. Players can utilize the Nintendo Switch’s local wireless capabilities to trade and battle via the in-game Pokemon Wireless Club. Additionally, the releases include the Sevii Islands content, expanding the adventure beyond the original Kanto map.
Pokemon HOME Support Confirmed
For trainers wishing to transfer their team to modern mainline titles, integration with Pokemon HOME has been confirmed. While the support is not available at launch, it is currently in development and will allow players to move their caught Pokemon to the cloud-based storage service in the future.
