Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.02.00 for Crimson Desert, bringing a wave of new features, control scheme options, and platform-specific graphical upgrades. The update is available now for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with the Mac App Store version currently in development.
Quality of Life Improvements
A key highlight of this update is the introduction of a Headgear Visibility option. Players can now customize when their character's headgear is displayed, choosing from settings such as 'Always Show,' 'Show in Combat,' 'Hide in Cutscenes,' or 'Always Hide.' Additionally, the developers have addressed inventory management concerns by significantly increasing private storage capacity. By advancing through the five stages of the Greymane camp expansion, players can upgrade their storage from a base of 240 slots to a maximum of 1,000 slots.
Revamped Movement Controls
Responding to player feedback, the patch introduces a Movement Controls option offering two distinct schemes: 'Basic' and 'Classic.' The Basic scheme allows for acceleration by holding the sprint key, while the Classic scheme relies on repeated key presses. These changes also extend to mount stamina consumption, ensuring that control inputs align with the player's preferred playstyle. Further combat refinements include improved responsiveness for jumping after attacks and the ability to activate the Flight skill while holding the jump key mid-air.
Graphical Enhancements and Performance
Technical optimization is a major focus of Version 1.02.00. PC players benefit from the implementation of FSR SDK 2.2, improved DLSS Frame Generation quality, and fixes for GPU memory usage anomalies. Console users also see specific gains; the PlayStation 5 Pro receives upgraded PSSR sharpening and Native AA features for Quality Mode, while the Xbox Series X adds a 4K upscaling option to Performance Mode. General stability improvements and crash fixes have been applied across all platforms to ensure a smoother experience.
Bug Fixes and Gameplay Tweaks
The update addresses several progression-blocking issues, including quest bugs in Chapters 6 and 11. Various UI elements have been reorganized for better visibility, and the shop interface now prioritizes sellable items. Fixes were also implemented for combat anomalies, such as bosses teleporting incorrectly and parry activation issues with two-handed swords. Looking ahead, the developers confirmed that a feature to hide weapons displayed on a character's back is planned for a future update.
