PC gamers exploring the world of Pywel in Crimson Desert can now bypass the game's fixed protagonist restrictions thanks to a newly released modification. Addressing player feedback regarding the title's narrative and character depth, the mod introduces a full character creation system to the open-world action game.
Customization Through the Barber
Available for download on Nexus Mods, the 'Character Creator' mod operates by modifying the existing barber game mechanics. The modification provides players with a robust suite of customization tools, including 98 face presets and 159 hairstyles.
The creator notes that the current release is limited to female character options, though an update adding male options is expected to follow shortly. To function correctly, the mod requires the installation of the 'JSON Mod Manager' and the 'Kliff Female Voice mod.'
Technical Details and Compatibility
Players should be aware that because the mod alters the game's barber mechanics, it is incompatible with other mods that target the same system, such as 'Barber Unlocked.' Looking forward, the modder has announced plans for animation replacements to ensure that the new female characters feel like natural replacements for the main character, Kliff.
Console Availability and Official Outlook
While the modification breathes new life into the PC version, console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S currently do not have access to these customizations. However, given developer Pearl Abyss's history of responsive community engagement and sophisticated character creation tools in titles like Black Desert, there remains speculation that an official feature could be implemented in the future if player demand is sufficient.
