Pearl Abyss has rolled out Patch 1.00.03 for Crimson Desert, delivering a substantial list of quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback. The update is currently available on PlayStation and has begun rolling out on Xbox and other platforms.
Key Gameplay Additions
The most notable addition in this update is the implementation of Private Storage. Players can now store their inventory items at the initial temporary lodgings in Hernand and at the Howling Hill Camp. This addresses early-game inventory management concerns.
Furthermore, the update adjusts survival mechanics significantly. The health restored by ingredients and food items has been increased, and the stamina consumption for abilities like Nature's Grasp has been reduced. Gathering mechanics have also been streamlined; ore veins and collectibles are now discovered automatically when the player is within proximity, and trees can be chopped using basic swings without the need for aiming first.
Control and Combat Improvements
Responding directly to player input, the developers have improved the response speed of interaction UI and jump inputs. Keyboard and mouse users now have specific shortcut keys (I, K, J, M) for menus and improved character movement controls. Combat has seen balance changes, including reduced difficulty for the Arm Wrestling and Archery Contest minigames. Successfully parrying bosses now accumulates a higher stun gauge, and specific enemy stats have been lowered to smooth out the difficulty curve.
Technical and Visual Fixes
On the technical front, PlayStation 5 and Xbox users now have a toggle for 120Hz mode. PC players received fixes for FSR Ray Regeneration and DLSS Ray Reconstruction visual anomalies. The patch also resolves a critical issue where the game would fail to launch on systems utilizing both integrated and dedicated graphics cards. Mac users can expect fixes for crashes related to Frame Generation settings.
The developers stated that this patch is just the beginning of their efforts to refine controls and gameplay mechanics, promising further updates based on ongoing community feedback.
