The staff reductions come as part of an organizational "realignment" intended to prioritize community needs, even following the franchise's most successful commercial launch to date.
A Paradox of Success and Cuts
The decision to cut staff appears counter-intuitive given the commercial performance of Battlefield 6. The title secured its position as the best-selling game in the United States throughout 2025, moving a record-breaking 7 million copies within its first 72 hours. However, the months following this launch have been turbulent.
Player sentiment has shifted significantly since the initial release window. While the multiplayer component received critical praise, user reviews on platforms like Steam have declined from "Mostly Positive" to "Mixed." Key grievances cited by the community include aggressive monetization strategies, the use of generative AI for cosmetic items, and a perceived lack of substantial content updates. In response to this feedback, the developers recently delayed the start of Season 2.
Operational Changes and Future Outlook
