FromSoftware Confirms Elden Ring and The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2

Published on 13 February, 2026

Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of acclaimed developer FromSoftware, has provided an update on its upcoming lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2. According to the company's recent financial earnings report, two major titles are currently in the production pipeline: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and the newly revealed The Duskbloods.

Release Window and Platform Details

While initial statements regarding the release timing were mixed, the official documentation cited in the report lists both titles as slated for a 2026 release. The Duskbloods is being developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Kadokawa confirmed that the title will be sold jointly with Nintendo, with sales responsibilities distributed by region. Meanwhile, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is intended to bring the hit action RPG to the new hardware, following a delay from its original window to allow for necessary performance optimizations.

Gameplay Focus and Direction

The Duskbloods is described as a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) experience centered around multiplayer mechanics. Up to eight players will battle for supremacy against one another and challenging foes.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki addressed potential concerns regarding the studio's direction, clarifying that this multiplayer focus does not indicate a permanent shift away from single-player experiences. He explained that the PvPvE structure allows for diverse game design opportunities and leverages the team's expertise in crafting difficult encounters, but the studio remains committed to traditional game design moving forward.
