Dark Souls 2 and 3 Online Play Suspended Temporarily
FromSoftware has stopped online services for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 across all platforms because of a server problem. The developer said the issue will be addressed, but did not provide an exact time for restoration.
As a result, shared multiplayer features are currently unavailable. This includes player-versus-player invasions, cooperative summoning signs, and the in-game message system that allows players to leave notes for others.
The studio said it will share more information when the team has a clearer timeline for returning servers to normal operation.
Ongoing Network and Launch Challenges
The outage adds to a recent stretch of technical and scheduling difficulties for the franchise. In 2022, online play for all three major Dark Souls releases was interrupted after a security concern linked to Dark Souls 3. Another service interruption followed later that year.
The studio's next title, The Duskbloods, has also faced network-related setbacks. Its first multiplayer test was shut down early because of similar server issues, and FromSoftware has now moved the Switch 2 exclusive launch window into 2027.
The developer said the game is still in a late development stage and apologized to players for the delay.
