Iranian Cyber Group 'Handala Hack' Claims Breach of Kash Patel's Email

Published on 28 March, 2026

A hacker collective identified by Western researchers as an extension of Iranian government cyberintelligence has claimed responsibility for a significant cyberattack targeting Kash Patel. The group, operating under the persona 'Handala Hack,' announced the breach as a direct response to recent law enforcement actions by the United States.

According to a statement published on the group's website, the intrusion was an act of retaliation following the FBI's seizure of their domains. The announcement came shortly after the US government offered a $10 million reward for information regarding the group's members. The hackers boastfully claimed that they successfully compromised 'impenetrable systems,' allegedly obtaining personal emails, conversations, documents, and classified files belonging to Patel.

The group, describing themselves as loyal to Iranian leadership, has a history of opposing US support for Israel. Prior to this incident, the Department of Justice cited communications in which the group issued death threats to dissidents residing in the United States. In their latest press release, the hackers criticized American security protocols, asserting that the breach serves as a testament to the collapse of US cyber defenses.

While the perpetrators claim to have accessed a vast trove of confidential data, these assertions have not been independently verified. As of the time of reporting, the FBI has not released an official statement regarding the alleged security incident, and Patel has not publicly addressed the claims on his social media platforms.
