Microsoft has silently removed the promotional blog post that launched its "This is an Xbox" marketing campaign. Attempts to access the original article on Xbox Wire now result in a 404 error message, effectively wiping the cornerstone of the initiative from the official news repository.
The scrubbing of the campaign comes just weeks after a major executive reshuffle. Former AI executive Asha Sharma has taken the helm as the new leader of Xbox, succeeding outgoing executives Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond. The sudden removal of the campaign material suggests a potential strategic realignment under the new administration.
Internal Friction and Strategic Pivots
According to reports, the "This is an Xbox" strategy—which aimed to position the brand as a platform ecosystem rather than a specific console—was championed by former leader Sarah Bond. Sources indicate the campaign's execution and its apparent de-emphasis on console hardware offended some internal staff, potentially contributing to the recent leadership departures.
