PH3 Games details engineering portfolio across recent game ports

PH3 Games has outlined a portfolio focused on the engineering side of game development. The company describes its work as centering on high-quality ports, remasters, and polish, with strong emphasis on performance and quality engineering. Areas of service include optimization, parallelization, refactoring, tuning, continuous integration, and delivery.

Recent projects emphasize rendering and platform engineering

Among the listed titles is The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II, a 2025 PC port and multi-platform CI/CD project. PH3 Games used and expanded its PH3lib framework, adding Temporal Anti-Aliasing and NVIDIA DLSS support. The studio said implementing these features required a major overhaul of the rendering pipeline because the engine did not natively provide the necessary motion vectors. Other reported enhancements included improved water rendering, Steam Deck optimization, better shadow quality, refined cloud rendering, and higher color-processing precision.

Ys X: Nordics, released in 2024, was another project built around the PH3lib framework. The studio said the technical groundwork from earlier work allowed it to prioritize optimization, and it reported an almost threefold speedup in CPU-limited scenarios. The game also launched with full local cooperative play support on PC, including integrated UI and custom co-op mechanics. This project was additionally highlighted as the first where PH3 Games provided a multi-platform CI/CD system, creating daily builds that supported development and localization workflows.

Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered, released in 2024, involved porting the tactical RPG to PS5 and updating the PC version with similar improvements. The work marked PH3 Games’ first PS5 development effort and required handling a code base originally created for PS2 in the early 2000s. The studio said it aimed to produce definitive PS5 and PC versions while addressing issues introduced by previous enhanced ports.

Trails titles show long-term optimization and feature expansion

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak was released in Japan in 2023 and internationally in 2024. It was the first game built on Falcom’s new engine, and PH3 Games used its PH3lib framework for the PC port. The project introduced the P3A archive format for asset packaging, compression, patching, modding, and dynamic caching. The studio also noted a notably large-scale integration of SGSSAA, while the long development window allowed further refinement before the wider release.

Other listed projects include The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, a 2023 PC port with VR support, where the company carried over features from earlier ports and developed custom solutions for VR interactions in a minigame and model viewer. Trails to Azure and Trails from Zero were remastered ports for Nintendo Switch and PC, with the studio reporting near-full feature parity on Switch and consistent 1080p/60 FPS performance in docked mode for the remaster.

The portfolio also includes The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails, a PC port involving older rendering code and enhancements such as arbitrary resolution, ultrawide support, MSAA, unlimited draw distance, and a new mouse movement scheme. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was presented as a major PC and Stadia porting challenge, with work focused on performance, arbitrary framerates, ultrawide support, and a later local co-op mode. Additional listed work covers Trails of Cold Steel IV, Trails of Cold Steel III, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, and Trails of Cold Steel II, spanning PC ports, performance tuning, asset compression, controller features, instant resume, and platform integrations.
