Black Tabby Games has announced a significant milestone in the development of their horror-mystery visual novel, Scarlet Hollow. The developers confirmed that the second half of Episode 5 is scheduled for release on February 20, 2026. This update is set to expand the game's script by approximately 90,000 words, bringing the total word count to nearly 930,000.
Currently, the Early Access version allows players to experience the first half of Episode 5. The studio has utilized the Early Access model to release the story episodically, refining earlier chapters based on community feedback. With the upcoming update, only one major content release will remain before the narrative reaches its conclusion.
Gameplay and Features
Set in a sleepy Appalachian town, Scarlet Hollow focuses on player choice and branching narratives. The game features a trait-based dialogue system, allowing for 21 distinct character builds that influence how the story unfolds. The developers emphasize a focus on atmospheric dread and horror rather than jump scares, complemented by hand-drawn art from Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Community Reception and Pricing
The title has garnered significant acclaim on Steam, holding an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating across thousands of reviews. Regarding future pricing, the developers noted that the cost of the game may increase before the full launch, though they pledged to provide one month's notice to prospective buyers. Players can currently purchase the game individually or as part of bundles involving the Black Tabby Games Collection.
