SAN FRANCISCO — A 20-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday following an attempted arson attack on the San Francisco home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The suspect allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the residence, later informing authorities that the act was committed because he was following a recipe for risotto provided by the AI chatbot ChatGPT.

According to the suspect's statement, he has utilized the artificial intelligence program for culinary assistance in the past, recently using it to successfully prepare a sesame chicken dish. When the chatbot provided a recipe for risotto that listed "a bottle filled with gasoline and a cloth wick" among the ingredients, the man claimed he did not question the unusual requirements.

The suspect explained to reporters that the instructions explicitly directed him to drive several hours to the OpenAI CEO's residence and throw the flaming device through a window. He stated that while he felt hesitant, he proceeded because the recipe indicated this was an essential step to achieve a "creamy, velvety" texture for the rice dish.

Law enforcement officials reported that the individual had prepared a large quantity of Molotov cocktails at his home, believing he was meal-prepping sufficient risotto to last the week. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
