Until Dawn Remake Developer Ballistic Moon Officially Dissolved

Published on 10 March, 2026

Ballistic Moon, the development team responsible for the 2024 remake of Until Dawn, has formally ceased operations. Official documentation filed with the UK government in February 2026 confirms the studio's dissolution, marking the definitive end for the UK-based developer.

The news follows earlier reports from March 2025, which suggested the studio had already effectively closed. The downfall began shortly after the October 2024 launch of the Until Dawn remake. Despite the franchise's popularity, the title received mixed critical reception, currently holding a Metacritic score of 70. By December 2024, the company had quietly let go of the remaining staff retained for post-launch support.

A Short-Lived Venture

Founded in 2019 by former Supermassive Games veterans Duncan Kershaw, Neil McEwan, and Chris Lamb, Ballistic Moon managed to release only this single project before its closure. Throughout the transition period, neither Sony nor former studio representatives offered public comments regarding the status of the studio or its staff.

Industry Trends Continue

The dissolution of Ballistic Moon is part of a larger pattern of restructuring within the video game industry extending into early 2026. Other major entities, including Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, have recently announced similar layoffs, studio closures, and project cancellations, highlighting the ongoing volatility in the gaming sector.
