Vampire Survivors Studio Reveals Turn-Based Spin-Off 'Vampire Crawlers'

Published on 21 April, 2026

The creators of the award-winning Vampire Survivors have officially announced a new spin-off project titled Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors. Departing from the auto-shooter mechanics of its predecessor, this new entry adopts a turn-based, card-driven format while retaining the rogue-lite elements fans have come to expect.

A Turbo Turn-Based Experience

Described by the developers as a "blobber," the game challenges players to explore dungeons from a new perspective. The core gameplay loop revolves around building powerful decks and executing combos by playing cards in ascending mana order. This mechanic allows effects to snowball rapidly, encouraging players to chain cards together to achieve potentially infinite combos.

Unlike the frantic real-time action of the original title, Vampire Crawlers allows players to choose their pace. Gamers can opt for a tactical, slow approach or play turns rapidly, with the game ensuring accurate outcomes regardless of speed. Key features include dungeon exploration with interactive environments—featuring functioning walls—and the ability to dig through floors to discover new areas.

Release Date and Future Plans

The Steam store page lists a planned release date of April 21, 2026, though the developers noted in an FAQ section that they are aiming for an early to mid-2026 launch window. The developers clarified that this project is not a direct sequel but the first in a series of potential spin-offs designed to apply the core pillars of Vampire Survivors—such as accessibility and replayability—to other genres.

The studio confirmed that they intend to support the game post-launch, similar to their previous work. However, they plan to gauge player feedback before finalizing their roadmap for additional content. A demo is currently available for players wishing to wishlist the title on Steam.
